Could be IBS. I've dealt with that for years. A night out at a restaurant can turn into me driving home like a NASCAR driver to 'beat the clock.'
I find that my inconsistencies in my diet exacerbate the problem, so OP may want a strict regimen and smaller meal portions.
With that said...I think some of this issue is mental.
