That right there is why I quit coaching. I had a 5'2" kid whose dad was his AAU coach try to tell me he should be my starting shooting guard over my 5'10" kid who could play, but didn't have a dad for an AAU coach. I let his kid get torn apart in one of early season games to prove a point. Naturally, he got pissed and wanted to argue with me in front of a gym full of people. I had to ban him from our gym.

AAU is a cancer as well but thats a topic for another thread

I agree though. At the very least travel ball still teaches fundamentals. AAU teams for the most part are just playground street ball types who lack fundamentals
