Do we really need all the equipment? Do we really need all the personnel? I read that even if we cut military spending by HALF, we are still the largest spenders?

There you go folks, you want lower taxes? You want to pay debts? Cut the military.


The problem with drastically cutting military spending is twofold.

First, were in the midst of 15 years of war , we have been spending so much of our military budget on fighting those wars that we have not invested jack in replenishment and resupply . I mean we are stealing parts of running machines to get other machines operable again, can't even afford spare parts.

And the bigger issue is that A LOT of our military budget goes to suporting antiquated computer equipment and such that just costs more to maintain year in and year out than modern equipment would , but it would be a HUGE investment to upgrade , one that probably needs to be made.
