One film that has been forgotten by the general public since its release is A Bridge Too Far. That is by far one of the most impressive male ensembles ever assembled for a movie, and the film is a solid one to boot. Good directing, incredible production values, and battle sequences that still hold up almost 40 years later.

Has anyone seen and liked Waterloo (1970) - it's such an ambitious film (it was said that, during its making, director Sergei Bondarchuk was in command of the seventh largest army in the world.)

I really liked it and the epic scale. The cinematography and battle scenes are immense for a period film.

I own that movie on Amazon and watch it all the time. One of the better WWII films...and there a lot of great WWII films.

Battle of the Bulge and The Big Red One are good too.

It should be a must watch for any WW2/war/movie lover.

What's so grwat about it is The cast, but also, We rarely see the allies losing in western films. It showed the incredible will of soldiers combined with a task that was hopeless....hense the title.

I saw it for the first time in its entirety last year and could not stop thinking about it for days. It was one of the best war films I had ever seen.
