Santa would be a better example.
Yeah seeing Santa get run over by a cement truck would be more traumatic than just a random stranger.
But either of them would be pretty memorable for a child was my point, and not in a good way.

Right, I gotcha.
Now I'm imagining horrible ways for kids to see their favorite mascots bite the dust.
Ronald McDonald falling into a meat grinder.
Finding McGruff the crime dog with a needle in his furry arm.
Toucan Sam sucked into a jet engine.
I get terribly morbid sometimes.
