LiPo batteries tend to go up in a ball of flames when a cell is damaged or punctured. The resulting fireball increases as the size of the battery increases. Your Samsung observation is correct.

Yea, batteries are the biggest concern for drone usage. Why they even sell them to the public is beyond me.
