Because you're not on their message boards. It really does happen in most high profile coaching searches.

And btw, there were national rumors for DAYS about Mizzou's HC search.

True. But I think the question comes from the perspective of the fact that regardless of the speculation leading up to it, Mizzou had Martin lock in the day after Cal's season ended. Same for NC St. and Illinois with their guys. Lorenzo Romar was fired at Washington on 3/15. 4 days later they had a new coach.

Presumably all of LSU's targets are done with their seasons, yet still no HC here. Right or wrong, it makes it look like those other schools had a plan then executed it, while LSU is still trying to figure out what they want to do

That's a silly assumption. If Joe has a short list, prequalified by reaching via third parties, one could assume he is going through his lists as target coaches seasons end.
It's also bs that a candidate who is highly interested would pull his name because of LSU dragging it's feet. Anyone who has dealt with executive or coaching searches knows that both parties are going to look at all offers.
If Wade withdrew it wasn't because of dragging feet.
Plus, we all know beat writers are always 100% accurate.
You guys make it sound like Alleva is a bumpkin. He's not. It just fits your narrative.

This. This. All of this.

If it was just this coaching search, then nobody would question Alleva. But it's everything he touches. Hiring a basketball coach, firing the football coach, "searching" for a football coach, dealing with Florida during the hurricane, all the way to hiring a softball coach. How can anyone have faith in anything he does.
