Yes it is actually pretty illuminating. I found out many of the family stories were true ( our friendship with Cherokee nation and marriage of my ancestors to Cherokee princess) some were false (we only owned a few house slaves and were not major slave owners) and most surprisingly that my surname is French not irish, and my great great great great grandfather was on the mayflower, and my great great great uncle started the French Revolution.
If your family were in this country in 1700s u will find u really are related to everyone. Related to bushes and Clintons. It's is fun to play with
