Hydroturf...those commercial matts will not feel good bare foot and it'll be nice to have for all applications. I would not get the ones with the backing.

I second the hydroturf. Put it in mine a few years ago and looks good as new I just pressure wash it every so often. Bought the kind with the 3M backing and also used some of the glue in a spray can to be sure it wouldn't come up. [/img]

They had a similar material at sears that I used, too, at a fraction of the cost. It was in the workout section I believe.

Got a dairy farmer buddy that uses those interlocking mats in his milking parlor. They work well in his boat as well.

Appreciate all the advice. It's given me more to think about and I'll likely alter my plan a bit.
I'm def looking for something in the carpet or foam category. The harder mats look good but I want something a bit softer to walk around on barefoot (wife often comes on the boat too).

do what I did, I put restore deck coating on the aluminum floor of my aluminum boat and its just like a spray on bed liner.
it can be colored to any color you want because its like a paint. I used the light gray and its like an off white color very similar to fiberglass boats. its barely warm sitting in direct sunlight and is also a sound deadener coating.
the only negative is you need 3-4 days not letting it get wet so it fully dries and cures all the way through.
it wont stick to bare metal so you need to prime coat the floor first with a good metal primer.
here are some pictures

after 2 years of heavy use the coating hasn't worn off or lifted at all. its very comfortable on bare feet and is a non skid surface

Hydroturf and you are done for about 10 years. Several companies have different patterns and colors to pick from too.

Can the hydroturf guys comment on how soft these are? Can you scrub this material pretty easily? Looks like it would have to be a permanent addition

That what i would do,

I like the Hydro Turf but putting it down would cover the rivets on the floor permanently. I like the suggestion someone had earlier about velcro and rubber mats. I may try this.
