That last sentiment was mostly directed at the OP, but since you're asking...
You're actively encouraging the race baiting by asking;
Common man! We all know it wasn't. So shut it the frick down. Read the article. All you're doing is encouraging the OP to post more fake news.
But now you're probably just going to hide behind the "I'm just asking questions" mask. You're leaving open the possibility of this being a hate crime when it's obvious it wasn't. Beating around the bush without being wrong or right, but furthering the hateful sentiment of the OP.
