Wound up destroying one of my fingers and the ortho is going to do a bone graft to fix it. What all do I need to expect for the surgery and recovery?
TIA and FYT

You're going to feel it for a while. Get a nerve block and some good meds.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

I've seen a few types of bone graftings.
Putty type, kinda like silly putty. Powdered and they add either h20 or saline or a gel "fixer". Stir it up, roll it around with their fingertips to get it formed up then insert and like sticking biscuit dough bits together, they squeeze it into place.
Little strip type, kinda like the old typewriter correction strips looking things. Come in a small vial, remove with a tweezer like instrument, place in desired spot and gently tap down along the length to adhere them in place.
Having had injury to nerves in fingers before, what I experienced was a decade or more of deadened feeling. The fingers worked just fine, just couldn't tell by feeling alone, needed to watch. Once I sliced the tip off a finger and till I saw the blood all over didn't notice. The feeling has eventually returned though.
