This is a valid point. The top notch coaches (and Saban is certainly one of them) are in the $3 million (plus) zip code. The SEC has the highest average coaches' salaries in the country; that's what it takes to play with the BIG BOYS.

The resources committed to the coaching staff at Alabama is a non issue to me, much the same as it relates to LSU; these schools are in the elite status concerning athletic department revenue. Our schools can afford the pay the bills without worrying about where the next dollar is going to come from.

Its not a quantum leap to believe that Nicky would be close to $4 mill per, if still at LSU.

Ask any former asst. coach who coached under Saban what sort of lifestyle they had while he was their boss.

As far as the staff, what was Kevin Steele's rep when he was hired? Great recruiter. Can you argue that the recruiting angle has paid off? We needed to stock the cupboards, ASAP, as much as win some games. As far as on the field, year one is a mulligan to me, no matter who you are or where you coach. Ask me again in two years.

Alabama started this out of control spending on coaches. The Bama boosters have always been of the mind that if coaches or recruits don't want to come here, we'll just buy them.
And I don't think you want me to go over your history of cheating. Hey, you spend the most money on assistant coaches in the nation. And the staff sucks. You do have to develop those players when they get to Gumpland. 6-6 with losses to ULM and MSU is not impressive. Enjoy Pendry.

Crowton and Saban would interesting. This would be a scary good combination. But I don't think Crowton wants to go anywhere.
