There is no "assuming" in the standard operating steps of having a professional bio constructed about yourself. If it was "off his radar" certainly one of his staff would have pointed it out.
You're making a case for Obama to be incompetent....more than once. The same claim was made in later publications when he joined the "New" Party in Chicago.

It was later brought to his attention and it was corrected.
Before the book jacket came out, he said he was from Hawaii. Same with after. It makes no sense that he decided to be from Kenya for a month.
