Skiing can be done on a budget but you really have to be living close to the mountain.
We day trip from Denver to Breck/Keystone/Vail/Beaver Creek, pack lunches and beers in a back pack, then grab a cocktail to end the day.
Occasionally we will stay the night on credit card points.
If we had to do what most people do - fly in, rent all gear, buy lift tickets, hotel, meals, etc. We absolutely wouldn't be able to afford it.
