So it's dumb for me to have the opinion that you should pay your loans back without gimmicks and getting discounts elsewhere such as taxes. Fine.

Having an opinion is fine.
Stating that it would be breaking the terms of the agreement when it doesn't isn't.
Also where is there a discount? Surely it's not in the principal being being back (with interest mind you). Why shouldn't people be able to spend as much as they make instead of wasting it on govt bureaucracy?
