Please let us see our starting lineup. From reading here I am to assume that you were Nicky Dawson high school Coach. Is that correct?

Please give us some insight on how your starting lineup would be.

I also have one more question, being your coached her. Is the bio wrong on her? It says she is already 20 years old! If its right, she should actually be a junior in college not a freshman! She really can't be 20 years old already or she would have been allowed to play against 13 and 14 year olds for the last 4 years

You are completely lost. Nice first post by the way.

Nicky was coached in high school by LSU great Ashlee Ducote. One of the greatest players in LSU history and a coach on LSU's staff at one time.

I'll leave it at that. If this is going to turn in to attacks against Nicky or Ashlee then it needs to end there.

May the best players play!

What happened to Randi Provost? She hasn't been there all weekend.

Sorry if I was mistaken, you seemed to have a lot of knowledge about the goings on inside and outside the program. I just assumed that you were the same Ashlee. My apologies. I also don't understand how I was turning this into a trashing of any young lady or any ex-player Only one simple question was your lineup and the young ladies age.

In Beth I trust. She has reasons and unless you've been at every practice, none of us will know reasons for sure. Maybe she hasn't beat out the others yet? When she does, she'll play

This times a billion!

Season is in the infant stages. This is a marathon. Not a sprint like football season (somewhat).

Why don't you find something else to do if you can't take reading an opposing view that differs from yours? Who made you the speak for everybody and police in softball threads? It's obvious that you become emotional when discussing changes to the current line up and rotations.

This freshman class has filled some much needed starting spots and the others that aren't starting are pressing the ones in front them. It's a great problem to have.

My biggest concerns coming into the season were, we had trouble replacing Andrews at the top of the order last year but signed two young ladies that were top of the order type girls. We also had depth trouble or the inability to a make switch down the stretch when there were a few bats that could never really get going and inconsistent fielding. All of which cost us despite making it to the WCWS.

It will all shake out. I'm excited for the season and the future. This freshman class is good.

I totally agree but, I'm sure that there are some that could shed a little light on the preseason competition. The season is just getting started and I'm sure that things will work their out. I'm not being critical with any decisions made this weekend. This team looks like they have the horses to win the race!

I will say this though, it is fun to imagine a line up with both lil Andrews and Dawson in it at the same time. Having them grouped together in the batting order just sounds like chaos for the defense. I can't wait to see that happen.

Per Tigerbait357 from the UCS softball message board

quote:

I think Torina was giving Thornhill a shot early since she does bring experience and some success from last season. She had a good off season from what I heard. Personally, unless she picks it up offensive, I would expect Andrews or someone else to start getting more time. Thornhill is playing LF due to her "offense". LSU will need everything thing it can get at the plate this year. While she can be productive, I am not sure if its ggoing to be enough to hold down that spot, not saying that she won't get better. She has shown she can hit solid pitching at times, we just need to see the consistency. Serrett while not the best offensively, her D warrants her being on the field everytime. I think you will continue to see more of Thornhill and Andrews and Dawson. I wouldn't freak out now as its really early to begin the season but I personally think Andrews might be the better option, if is as productive as thornhill then she should start in LF. Her defense is a significant upgrade too, it will all work itself out tho.

A simple explanation, yet it explains a lot. That's all that needed to be said. I know we have "that one" poster who bashes players, their families, and coaches, but most of the fans here aren't that one poster. Way too much animosity over simple critiques. We're all gonna have opinions, just have to communicate them in the right manner. Beth is a phenomenal coach, and I don't question her coaching ability or eye for what's going on in inner practices. Just have questions about certain things, just as I question plenty that Yvette made over her course of time here. We finally have balance of pitching and offense with defense finally coming along as well under the Torina era. It was a quiet homerun hire and is possibly the best hire Alleva made his entire time at LSU

Oh and for those that were hoping for Tigerbait357's analysis about recruiting and inside info he had this to say at UCS:

So if anyone posts on Tigerdroppings I am a poster there who gives updates on LSU softball, recruiting and other things. I am currently banned after someone hacked my account and went on a posting rampage and so I can't update or get ahold posters there. If someone can tell the posters there that they can reach me here or by email Tigerbait357@yahoo.com I would greatly appreciate it.

Freshman Doyle & Springfield played very well for their first time out. Griggs, Landry, SJ, Sanchez played well. Serrett, Quinn & Thornhill struggled at times at the plate. Defense was good - I think only 1 error in five games. Pitching was decent. I question starting a freshman in game 2 with a rookie catcher before you even pitched Smith or Hoover. Should have brought her in with big leads to see what she could do.

While I understand the frustration with Serrett's hitting. Seems the coaching staff has already given up on her. They pinch hit for three times the first three games and after only two at bats for the year. How much confidence can she have in herself when they have none in her.

I wouldn't read it that way. That's the good thing about the nuance of the re-entry rule in softball. In the McNeese game, Serrett struck out her first two times and honestly looked bad doing so. Since she obviously wasn't seeing that particular pitcher well, it gave the coach a chance to get another player an at-bat while still leaving Serrett in defensively. That pinch-hitter was Walljasper, who ended up having a great AB and driving in the tying run with a double. I don't think the players take it personally or that the coach has no confidence in them when they get pinch hit for. It's a team game. Serrett hit over .300 last year and I'm sure her bat will come around. Soon she will have a hot weekend and Coach won't need to pinch hit for her.

I think reading between the lines with Beth's quotes after the game, then hearing her pregame radio interview Saturday before Day 2, I think she realized she made a mistake in doing that.

Thanks of the information LiveGold as I was wondering what happened to Tigerbait357. I truly liked his analysis' and commentaries as a very positive and knowledgeable softball fan.

If your account was truly hacked and this was the first rampage in years after thousands of posts which TR would have a record of, I would think ADMIN would be understanding and sympathetic towards reconsidering your ban. Hope ADMIN is listening as you have truly been a complete asset not only to the softball team in gaining fans and support, but to the Rant as well.
