Vulnerable populations get left behind. I teach in the hood but we actually do have some really bright kids here. Their parents don't know how to advocate for themselves or their kids OR navigate through the bureaucracy to get their kids into selective enrollment schools. It's those kids who get stuck and forgotten that breaks my heart.
