I see that the administration is the originator of the issue with making the policy zero tolerance, and the point I made about losing track of treating the students with basic human dignity applies to them as well. But if I were a teacher there is no way that I wold enforce that rule. If a student has to go then they have to go, and I'm not stopping them. It's just a basically decent way to treat people, and no stupid rule is preventing me from being decent.
If an individual abuses the privilege then you deal with it then on an individual level. They're probably mostly hurting themselves anyway. I just can't see trying to police such a basic human need. I would never go there with coworkers or employees who work beneath me, and they should never go there with students. It's basic decency that should be available to all people.
