You obviously were not around in the 70's and 80's when the USA was producing absolute garbage. The Japanese came in and kicked the shite out of Detroit which was putting out cars that were falling apart within a couple of years. A car that would last 100,000 miles was practically unheard of before Toyota showed up on the scene.

Just the cars or everything?
I know that the US made cars had some quality control problems.
