Anchors of that caliber make about 35-40k. Producer and reporters make far less. The only people that make real money are prime time anchors.

This is the case. The news anchors and meteorologists and perhaps the sports anchor are the only ones making money.
Most sales people are out earning the news team. It's why I moved over to the sales side of the industry, thats where the money is
However a new position - the traffic anchor - seems to be paying more these days. All you have to do to get that job is look hot - they just pick attractive women to fill those roles.
