quote:
Do you really think that black people knew slavery would one day end? You think they had premonitions of freedom? There were black slave mothers who killed their infant children so they wouldn't have to go through the awfulness of slavery, you jackass. They had no hope, they had no dreams. It was all about survival.
It's obvious you have no clue what you're talking about.
Nobody is suggesting that anyone would volunteer to become a slave.
But - That doesn't preclude the observation that the descendants of those slaves are far better off - on average - than the descendants of those who remained in the area from which they were taken. And that any descendant of a slave in America today should thank God for their good fortune that their ancestors survived the horror of slavery.
Anyone who doesn't feel that way should renounce their American citizenship and return to their homeland immediately. Nobody is forcing them to live in the 'squalor' their ancestors left for them.
I'd be proud as hell to have a slave in my ancestry. It would comforting to know that I had that survival gene coursing in my veins.
And yes - if someone were to offer me the chance to give my lineage a guarantee of freedom in a great nation in exchange for a life of hunter-gatherer survival in a jungle, I would gladly sacrifice my remaining years for that. Of course nobody can guarantee that so nobody with any sense would accept the tradeoff.
But when you look back, you can - if honest - conclude that modern blacks in America are far better off than if they were still struggling within whatever environment their ancestors were taken 200 years ago.
