I think MMOs died when you went from 4-5 to hundreds. There aren't that many people on the planet who are MMO gamers to adequately populate every title. What has replaced MMOs are MOBAs and Minecraft inspired survival games.

they cycle has been moving away from MMO's for a while it seems. Maybe once they go back out of style someone will come back around to make one that's worth a shite and original. I had all my eggs in the EQ Next basket, but someone decided to shite rocks all over that basket of eggs and destroy them.
