It's supposed to be stupid. It's supposed to be "simple." It's about vapid male models getting caught up in international conspiracies and whatnot. I mean, there's a gasoline fight for chrissakes.

It is also important to remember what was going on in pop culture at the time. The boy band was nearing it's peak. This was MTV and TRL's last stand before napster changed everything.

So the pop celebrities at the time were in a bubble of self-gratification and just utter ridiculousness.
