I'm sure this post will get down voted, but it has a ton to do with how much results matter in China. If you want to continue and/or advance your political career in China, you had better produce positive results. The party doesn't really tolerate mediocrity.

In the US, if you want to continue and/or advance your political career, you need 50% + 1 of a highly ignorant population to push the button with your name on it. Results don't matter.

The current President of China has a political career over 30 years long in which he held executive positions at the lowest local level up to being mayor of a city of 7 million people and an economy that would rank in the top 30 in the world. Compare that to our President who never held an executive position in his life prior to being President.
