Sorry, Scruffy. Long time resident. Graduated from NISH and left for LSU. Moved back right after Katrina.
This place went to shite quick, fast, and in a hurry.
There is no city police because the mayor at the time had a beef with some of the cops so she disbanded the police department and now all we have is a sheriff that has encouraged his deputies to systematically infringe on prisoners' civil rights. And now after his office was made to pay out $400,000 in a civil suit because of sexual misconduct, he's facing another civil suit for wrongful termination of an employee because she had the nerve to talk to the girl that filled the first lawsuit. And he was just reelected by the retards that inhabit this place. Seriously, we are no better than Chi-town except we don't have the population.
In other words, this place sucks donkey dick right now.

I hate to hear that. I grew up in New Iberia, left in the late 80's when I was 13. We rode our bikes all over down town, the park, every where without the slightest fear of anything happening. I drove by the old house not to long ago and all of Henry St. was looking pretty suspect.
