My style isn't going to change. It rubs some the wrong way, others understand it and get a different perspective on how recruiting works. I wasn't a writer before I took this job. I worked in the scouting service and camp industries for years, so I feel that I have a unique outlook on things. I was on the ground. Not saying it is a better one--just different than you are used to getting from a lot of writers. I'm simply trying to fill you in on the day-to-day shifts if you will. I wish people really knew how crazy recruiting really is. It's going to take 10 years off of my life.
For example: Chris Allen was set to commit to Alabama after one of the junior days. LSU caught wind of it and brought him and the family in the next morning and temporarily put a halt to it. The morning of July 28, right after my son was born, Cam called and gave me the scoop on the visit that transpired the day before. Allen gave LSU a commitment on July 27. He planned to go public shortly after, the 28th, and I put out the alarm. Well, he changed his mind overnight, without me knowing obviously. That is an example of not only what happens, but how fluid and quickly things can change. I wrote up 3 commitment stories for that kid, but he struggled to move forward with a public commitment. That's recruiting. I don't mind looking wrong do the guys that don't read me. The ones that are in my chats, interact on social media, call me, text me etc. love it. Don't like it, don't read it. Won't cost you a $ either way.
WELL put!
Interesting about Chris Allen though. I guess that was the "boom" that everybody was talking about back then.
