Eh, not sure about that. The sheer amount of Section 8 housing drives prices up to where working people can't afford to live in NOLA. Plus there's the exorbitant property taxes, which have to be passed on to the tenant for the landlord to make a profit. Both are government interventions.

If Section 8 had never been invented, landlords would have to lower the rent to reflect local the income levels.

i agree fully

but

it's still the market. it's just a warped market due to governmental interference making property more expensive for the working class (from top to bottom)
