What would those numbers have looked like had he not been on the block? More assists for sure, but he'd have been lucky to hit the backboard from outside of 11 feet.

They tried him at the point early in the season and the problem was defenses could basically just ignore him until he tried to drive to the goal.

To be an effective point you have to be at least some threat to shoot. Even if we're only talking 25%, you've got to be able to draw defenders out to the perimeter.

The fact is Ben couldn't do that last year because he was no threat to shoot from the perimeter. I'm sure the Sixers will teach him to shoot and he'll make a great NBA player, but he was very limited offensively at LSU due to his inability to shoot the ball.
