120k student loan doesn't help certainly. And I'll admit that is savings on top of retirement.

I'm not pretending it's not comfortable. It's completely and totally comfortable. But I am surrounded by people who make more and have more. They may also be in "my bubble" but there are plenty in another "bubble" above us. I just don't think you can lump people into that upper class at that level. Same as you can't lump someone making 30k (very livable wage although tough) with someone making 10k per year. The concept of upper/middle/and lower is more defined by the lifestyle it affords you. Can you put food on the table, can you shelter yourself, or do you have enough to start your own business or employ people. I think 200k is closed to middle class in that way than it is to a millionaire.

Dude please go find a middle class person and say you have a 300k house, two cars, 401k, retirement investments, savings account, daycare, and all of that is on top of regular loving expenses and you still save $1200 a month and then tell them you are in the same boat as them and not middle class.

If you're in the south then 200k is certainly upper class. Middle class families may take a vacation once or twice a year at most. I would probably draw the line at 130k combined for entry to the upper class.
