Honestly, I Googled Berbere beef & mushroom recipes, read a few, and then sort of winged it with ingredients I had. Those ingredients were niter kibbeh, which is ghee under a different name, onions, garlic, mushrooms, red wine, beef, the seasoning, plus salt. I could've used more of the seasoning, but some recipes warned that it is really hot. I added more, several times. Sorry for not always being a recipe follower. Tomatoes were a part of lots of recipes, but I didn't want to use any.
