I feel your pain but my company does it via email and doesn't put people on the spot. Since we have over 250 employees, it's easy to fly under the radar. It does seem like it's always something though. I bet I could easily shell out a few hundred per year for birthday collections, baby gifts, deaths, people going through a hard time, dirty santa, going away parties, etc. I do give to the ones who need it though.

I like playing Secret Santa and will participate in it but know I am breaking even anyway. I will do the ones highlighted.
