They didn't even win their division. They lost to Penn State head-to-head.

To act like it shouldn't be up for the debate is, well, dumb

1. Penn State has two loses versus Ohio States 1

2. Penn State lost to Pitt and got blown the hell out by Michigan.

3. Ohio State beat that same team that blew the doors off Penn State

4. Ohio State has wins over much better teams.

The separation is far too great for a head to head consideration to come into play.

Plus..if your goal is to get the best 4 teams in and not the 4 most deserving...then it's tOSU hands down. shite, id argue Michigan over Penn State too. You put the 4 most deserving in and Bama will roll through that playoff like they are playing Sunbelt teams.

I think OSU get in, but this is an odd way to prioritize. In all cases, head-to-head is #1 in any comparison. It may not be the only relevant thing, but you certainly can't dismiss it as irrelevant to the discussion like you just did

Yes, transitive property score margins are a much better determination of who the best team is than head-to-head results.

Solid argument, I'm sure this is what the committee is looking at to make this decision.

Penn State won the conference and beat OSU head to head. That should absolutely mean more than losing to Pitt (who also beat Clemson) and losing to Michigan (while they had a TON of injuries to their defense).

Your whole argument is essentially a transitive property/common opponent argument which is weaker and should be weaker than who won the title and who won when they played each other.

I love all the transitive arguments Somehow, some way, if you bend it enough, ASU should be in the playoffs too.

"Ohio just lost on a bad day." Colorado did too. Wiscy did too. Florida did too. Win your damn games.

"Ohio has 3 (or 4?) Top 10 wins." Well, they also lost to Penn State... in a head to head. No pseudo transitive argument required here. Penn State won their division and conference and beat the team in question.

"Well, Ohio clearly looks better than every team out there besides Bama and would be the only one to put up a fight". Well, they clearly looked better on paper against PSU too. "Well, they just had a bad day." And we come full circle.

This whole situation is a shite show plain and simple. Ohio will get in, but we don't have to like it. Ohio fans are worse on my scale than ND fans lol
