Two of the last five elections have seen a Republican lose the popular vote but win the Electoral vote thanks to Republican power being concentrated in the smaller states whose citizens' votes count proportionally more than the votes cast by citizens in the more largely populated (and usually Democratic) states. What you say doesn't compute.

I have a feeling that if we add a 51st state, there will have to be a compromise that splits another state in half to even out the left/right stuff so we go with 52.

If we go Puerto Rico, and it looks like a Democratic state, take a chainsaw down the center of Texas. If PR looks Republican, there may be a state line running through the Fresno Valley.

No citizen's "vote" for president counts for more than any other. The EC is the vote. Deal with it.
