Both my family and my wife's family are extremely close and incredibly accomplished and I can't think of a holiday we've had together in 13 years where we didn't drink alcohol. Drinking with my siblings and brother-in-laws is the very definition of a great time.

Maybe alcohol has no bearing on good families.
