The president's car and the follow-up car containing Hickey suddenly speed up. This is attested to by Secret Service agent Clint Hill. Oswald fired a full metal jacketed bullet. The bullets are designed to not shatter which would explain the hole in Kennedy's neck.

Kennedy's head exploded. Probably from a "soft" bullet which is what an AR-15 fires.

P.S. I once read that the Secret Service was the only law enforcement agency involved that day to not have their guns cleared and verified after the shooting.
