Saints are good, just a new defensive coach.

Also a new salary cap to cover everything on defense.

Would be a neat luxury, but I'm not very concerned about it. Offensive skill position is probably at the bottom of my list in terms of needs. What would most help our offense is some more consistent offensive line play. Guards are the only thing that I want added to the offense, besides cheap depth. Everything else should be defense. But Payton does like his toys.

In no order, I think we need another CB, pass rusher, MLB, and offensive lineman, particularly a Guard. Maybe a 3rd down RB and OLB as well.

Cap space after cutting Byrd: $30M ($35M - $5M for draft picks)
1. Re-sign Fairley to a heavily incentivised 2 yr, $15M deal. (2017 cap hit: $7M).
2. Re-sign Kuhn, Hightower, Mauti, and one of Moore/Webb (~$5M for all).
3. Tender Snead ($2.6M) and Coleman ($1.6M).
4. Sign the best G we can to man RG. ($8M).
5. Use the remaining ~$6M to sign a DE and S.
Draft
1 - trade down for a early 20s 1st and extra 3rd
1 - LB Zach Cunningham
2 - DE
3 - RB (we need some talented depth and this draft is loaded at RB)
3 - CB
4 - RT
6 - G/C
7 - BPA
Post FA depth chart:
QB Brees/McCown
RB Ingram/Hightower/3rd rd rookie/Lasco
FB Kuhn
WR1 Thomas/Coleman
WR2 Cooks/Lampman
SWR Snead/Lewis or UDFA
TE Fleener/Hill/Hooman
LT Armstead/Kelemente
LG Peat/Kelemente
C Unger/6th rd pick
RG FA/Turner
RT Strief/4th rd pick
LE Kikaha/2nd rd pick/Gwachum
DT Fairley/Rankins
NT Davison/Onyemama
RE Jordan/FA
SLB Stupar/Anthony
MLB Cunningham/Mauti
WLB Ellerbe/Robertson
CB1 Breaux/Crawley
CB2 Williams/3rd rd pick
SCB Moore
SS Vaccaro/Harris
FS Bell/FA

I mean we can keep saying this but in our two most successful seasons by far we were dynamite out of the backfield, we don't have near the success with that offense without the dynamic chain movers that we had. I'm not advocating a first rounder but I think sustaining a few more drives would be monumental in helping out our defense.

You guys have all these plans. They have no money to spend

Based on everyone's responses...I think it's safe to say that most want to build up the O-Line, build up the defense(outside of DT...assuming we retain Fairley), & maybe add one more weapon for CSP to use on offense.
Heavy O-Line & defensive offseason.

Retain Fairley. Look to the draft for an o-lineman and pass rusher. Look to free agency for a corner.

D Ware is 67 years old. Claiborne reminds me of Fred Thomas. Thanks but no thanks on both.

CB is not a major need.
Breaux
Williams
Moore - re-sign
Crawley
Webb - re-sign
Swann
That's more than adequate. Bigger needs at DE, G, LB and RB.

Didn't realise Webb was a RFA. He'll be re-signed for cheap. You're right about CB being set assuming we can bring back Moore for cheap.
