I believe going for it is the right call. They had 1 timeout. I know the D has been playing well but best case scenario you get around the 10 (or touchback) still needing a TD. With a somewhat likely chance you never see the ball again. By going for it and not getting it they still got the ball back with the 1.5 mins left still needing a touchdown. I think the decision was correct just didn't work out.

This was the thought process. Had they been down by 7 they might've punted.
