It's nothing more than a popularity contest these days. The last two bama players winning it proves that. The Stanford kid had better stats then last years winner and the year Ingram won it, a Stanford running back had better stats that year. The Stanford guys didn't win because they were playing at Stanford, in my opinion.

And then you have Bo Jackson saying something to the effect that as long as the Heisman stays in the state of Alabama, he would be happy. His vote was going to go to a player from that state.

Popularity contest, plain and simple.
