Navy. Was sent ashore so my rack could be given to a sound engineer for sound trials.
5 days on the beach at Andros Island, Bahamas with 10 other shipmates.
First night the bar had $.25 beer. Can you imagine being out to sea for two months and finding a bar with that type of special? We got shitfaced and would up "procuring" a couple golf carts playing football and smashing anything we could find.
The following days saw rare moments of sobriety as we partied hard.
Someone reported our golf cart actions to our COB "Chief of the Boat" who called us into the goat locker. PO DeSeares explain to COB that we did in fact drive the carts thinking they were free to use for everyone. He vehemently denied the destruction of numerous satellite dishes, bicycles abandoned in the streets and the golf cart found half submerged in the swamp.
It was COBs first week onboard. He says "I don't believe a god damn thing you just said but since this is my first week (he came aboard when we went ashore), consider this your one and only "Get out of jail free card"
It was one of the best weeks of my Navy career but we should have been masted for it
