How can Sankey force LSU to break contract with South Alabama and lose out on home game revenue? I might be wrong, but I don't think Sankey or the SEC can legally do that. I know he's the big boss and all, but still.

He cannot.

He can only request.

And USA is no pushover. They beat one SEC team this year and would love the chance to pull an upset at LSU.

They'd likely tell Sankey to go frick himself and I wouldn't blame them.

Sankey made his bed with his vacillation and indecision.

Let him lie in it.

You're correct in that the SEC can't force LSU to give up a home game and all the revenue it generates. It's important to the BR economy that LSU not lose a home game that would generate up to $15M in revenue. Sankey would never dream of asking Bama to do it, so why should LSU help him and UF out of the mess they created together? If I were Alleva, I'd bring up that the BR area is still recovering from our own natural disaster and we can't afford to lose the money. Also stress that LSU bent over backwards to try to accommodate UF and was rebuffed at every turn. Alleva needs to stand his ground and do what's best for BR and LSU. If he agrees to go to Gainesville on 11/19 and LSU gets absolutely no compensation in any way, then he is a failure as an AD and we need to find someone who will protect LSU's interests and not fold under pressure from Gump Central and the media.
