You probably had/have army worms that came in and ate the lawn to the point of killing it.
Biferthrin in liquid or granule form for army worms
Now you have button weed and dove weed.
Metsulfuron (msm turf, manor, mansion) or Celsius for button weed. It looks like you have some bahia grass in there which will be killed by both of the products.
Atrazine for dove weed.

I'm dropping a nuke on my backyard and starting over next spring. It's a who's who of weeds. I'll drop some overseed just so the kids don't have to play in the mud this winter and re sod in the spring. It was having trouble with the time to keep it nice and then this wet summer killed me. I lost the war.
