A running back taking a direct snap is not "wildcat". Les would stick Ware and LF at qb and run power run plays. Wildcat has jet sweep action and the option to run the ball wide or run counter plays creating indecision in the defense.

LOL... very true. Also I always failed to see where 1 so-called wildcat, even if true wildcat, run stand-alone would have even close to the same effect [on the defense] that at least a series would have. Never quite understood that.

LSU practiced the full wildcat series of plays.

I have never heard wildcat referred to as anything more than a formation.

You are referring to it as if it is an offensive style like the spread.
