The difference is the radio in the phone. You need to check the LTE bands and see if it's compatible with your carrier.

So I'm just realizing that my current phone (Nexus 5) is also an international version... So I should be good. I've never really had any problems with signal or anything except, sometimes In a building like a big school or hospital I don't get signal while my friends with other carriers do. I just always assumed it was a signal issue with T-Mobile, but is it possible that the international phone has worse reception or maybe just my particular phone is a dud.
