For films that are heavily scored with popular music selections, American Graffiti is tough to beat. The Big Chill and Forrest Gump are good as well. Heavy Metal and Vision Quest are underrated in this area. Almost Famous, Dazed and Confused and Detroit Rock City come to mind here.
For scores without popular music, either relying on classical or music composed primarily for the film, obviously Star Wars and Jaws leap out. Blade Runner's score is outstanding, too (Vangelis), as is the score for Casablanca and Last of the Mohicans.
