Biggest difference between Etling and Harris

Etling seems way way more comfortable in the pocket. I saw him step up, or right, or left, within the pocket on multiple plays. Just that one step in the right direction and he freed himself enough time to allow a play to happen while temporarily escaping the pressure. Harris' first move always seems to be to throw off his back foot when pressure is coming. Never really saw him step up into the pocket and make a throw.
I've been a supporter of Harris, blaming coaching and not him. I still believe, to a certain extent, that Harris struggles is a product of a horrible offense. However, Etling seemed to have way more awareness and really looked like the better QB. Do I think Harris would be better if the coaches staff called plays that better suits him, yes.. But we all know that's not going to happen.

I agree with what you are saying.
I think Harris is more comfortable in a different type of offense.. but since they refuse to cater to his style.. then Etling is better suited because he is more natural in the pocket. His footwork and pocket presence are superior.
I still think Harris could be an efficient college QB.. but it would need to be primarily out of shotgun and allow him to run and gun out of it. I believe he's also more valuable running out of a spread type of offense than running the option.

That is easy. One has a W under his ledger this season and the other has a L under his belt this season.

I don't have the numbers handy but I saw the other day where he was more efficient from under center than his shotgun snaps.

The biggest difference I saw was Etling's ability to read the defense, go through his progressions and execute the throw. Note the TD pass to Smith (he correctly read the coverage mismatch) and the screen to Williams (changed the play to take advantage of the corner blitz).
Now, that was only part of one game against a FCS team. Assuming he starts Saturday, we'll see if he can do it against a SEC defense.

One is a QB playing QB (Etling).
The other is an athlete playing QB (Harris).

Confidence and plays within his abilities.

It's real simple: the coaches need to play the guy who is most comfortable in THEIR offense.
If that's Etling, fine. If that's Harris, fine. Whoever it is just needs to keep the chains moving and put points on the board.
At this point, it seems that guy is Etling.

I think Harris has more natural ability but he plays nervous, if that makes sense. A quarterback needs to stay calm, especially under pressure. Etling plays like he is more under control. Harris seems to get frantic at times. Harris can improve on this, but he needs to work at it.
