Well it spreads it out, or pushes it until the 2018 season, right? Meaning that it's spread out over the 5 years, and then will accelerate to 2018 if his contract terminates
So we get relief in 2016 and 2017, then it accelerates to 2018

Correct, and depending on structure it may only be about $10ish mil in dead money in 2018.
Also the reason why 5 years is so the signing bonus is spread over the max years allowed so 2016 and 2017 is smaller.
If the signing bonus was, for example, $15 mil that would be $3 mil per over 5 vs. $7.5 mil over 2.
So we'd only pay $6 mil of the bonus while he was here ($3 mil per) and $9 mil after the contract voids (all in 2018).
