Saban's last year was a rebuild from a NC exodus but he had ALL the chips in place for a long term run. Look at 2005-2007. Those were his freshman from 2003-2004.
The proof is in the pudding. Saban just WINS.

Saban was always going to the NFL; it was just a matter of when not if when he was at LSU. Everyone was aware of that. Every offseason, it was a check to see if the Bears were going to come calling.
Who were the other coaches considered likely candidates outside of Les Miles at that time? Didn't Saban try and lobby for Houston Nutt at the time? What a mess that would have been.
