According to Baseball America he will be sent to the Arizona league after minor league season ends and begin to work on catching. This seems quite out of the blue to me.

Should just go into coaching and end his baseball career.

I don't remember which year he was drafted but he's been in the minors for a long time. But then again a guy like Ryan Schimpf after 8 years of being "okay" in the minors is now setting records in the MLB.

He set Padres rookie record for homers in a month. He's on pace to be the MLB player with the lowest batting average to still slug .600 in history. Which isn't a great thing, I understand, but he's hit nearly 75% of his hits for extra bases (per tigers in the minors twitter). Led the MLB in homers and slugging the month of July and was NL rookie of the month. All at 28 years old. All he needed was a shot, the Padres gave it to him.

He's only been in the minors 4-5 years. Not as long as you're making it out to be.

5 years for a former collegiate all american from a top 5 program, drafted in the top couple rounds, is an extremely long time without ever getting a cup of coffee.
