A RE market is generally the metro area. When these families move to Houston and say their homes were so cheap they aren't talking about Houston proper. They are taking about Cinco Ranch and other burbs where you can still get nice homes for below $100/sq ft yet still be closer to decent shite than Watson.
I'm looking at a 3 bed, 2 bath 2000 sq ft home in Katy, in good school districts. Asking price is $185k.
That same home in meth country of Watson would be $230k. It's just crazy when you compare different markets.

I would be leary, to say the least, of purchasing that home. It could be made of shite materials and will be falling apart in no time.
Houses here are cheap compared to out west or east.
