Even though the majority of us then and now would have said "no" to that question, that's not how it should work. We have no way of knowing which team would be better on the field on a given day. If we did, we'd all be rich and Vegas wouldn't have all those nice, shiny buildings. Was Bama better than Utah in 2008? What about South Carolina in 2010? Ole Miss last year? Just because we think they are a better team does not mean we should just give them the benefit of the doubt when the unbiased, tangible data says another team is more deserving. Oklahoma State had more quality wins and won their conference. That has got to count for something, otherwise the entire regular season loses its luster.
